Fire started near the bow

After the fire was successfully extinguished aobard the 'Mekhanik Maslak' on Aug 2, an investigation revealed that it had started near the bow and subsequently spread to one of the freezers holds. The incident occurred as the trawler was undergoing mooring trials during one of the final stages of its construction. Local officials assured that the fire would not affect the construction timeline of the vessel.

Fire on Russian trawler newbuilding

On Aug 2, 2022, at 11.15 a.m. Moscow time a fire broke out aboard the 'Mekhanik Maslak' in the fish hold of the foreship at the quay of the Admiralt Ship Yard in St. Petersburg. The trawler was under construction and nearing completion, actually running trials. The fire was extinguished by 2.30 p.m. 14 engines and 58 fire fighters had responded.
