Fire in engine room
In the afternoon of July 4, 2016, a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Magnolia", 2130 ts (EU-No.: 04800310), underneath the Main lock at Gustavsburg. Witnesses had remarked smoke emerging from the unloaded ship which was moored at the Main shore at 2.30 p.m. and notified the crew which sealed the openings of the engine room, shut down all engines and aggregates and alerted the fire rescue before saving themselves onto the shore. The fire brigades from Wiesbaden, Ginsheim-Gustavsburg, Bischofheim, as well as forces of the life saving Society DLRG, divers and the fire boat "Hecht" from Gernsheim attended. A squad under respirator could put out the fire with a carbon tube quickly. For extensive ventilation and damping-down more teams were used. For about an hour the ship traffic on the Main and the lock was blocked.
