Missing man found on board after hours of search

Thu Oct 20 10:49:06 CEST 2016 Timsen

Rescue forces were busy for more than two hours on Oct 19, 2016, to find a missing crew member of the "Lierdam" who was allegedly beaten overboard. The man finally was eventually found safe and sound aboard the barge after a helicopter and an airplane of the Coast Guard had scoured the water for hours, being supported by KNRM boats from Neeltje Jans and Hansweert on the busy shipping lane off the coast of Stavenisse. It was not yet clear why the skipper could not find the man who was in good health on board.

Fire in engine room soon contained

Sun Dec 06 16:55:26 CET 2015 Timsen

In the midday hours of Dec 6, 2015, the "Lierdam", 1470 ts (EU-No.: 06002769) caught fire on the Leie in Wielsbeke. The ship was docked at the container terminal when the fire broke out in the engine room. The rescue Service Fluvia was soon able to bring the fire under control which probably originated in an electrical switchboard.
