Cargo vessel ran aground in storm and was gutted by fire
The "Lienhe 36“, 499 gt, on Oct 13, 2017, ran onto a breakwater near the fishing port Changhuaim in Changhua-County, Taipei, on stormy seas. The crew of six saved themselves to shore. On Oct 14 operations to remove hazardous substances from board were started. 10 tons diesel and five more tons of oil substances were drained from the heavily damaged ship. On Oct 15 at 4.30 a.m. a fire broke out in the superstructure. The Central Patrol Service and the Changhua County Fire Department station were alerted and managed to extinguish the blaze by 5.45 a.m. with 10 fire engines. The cabin block and wheelhouse were gutted. It was planned to dismantle the wreck on site.
