Barge caused oil spill
In the evening of Mar 12, 2014, the "Meggen" caused na oil spill at Datteln in the Weser-Datteln-Canal. The ship which was carrying steel rolls had berthed near the Markfelder Street-Bridge to bunker water. Instead of pumping it into the fresh water tank, it was pumped into the cooling water system causing an overflow in a fuel tank so that lube oil floated into the canal. The fire rescue surrounded the ship with an oil boom and started removing the spill. Report with photo: http://www.derwesten.de/staedte/unser-vest/oel-im-kanal-id9113222.html#plx1199772781
