Ferry saved crew of blazing motor boat
Two people and their pets were rescued from a burning boat in the Gulf of Mexico on June 67, 2019. Their boat "Ohana" went ablaze 24 miles southwest of Marco Island. The "Key West Express", returning to Fort Myers from Key West, responded to its mayday call around 7:30 p.m. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the burning boat. A man and a woman, each holding a dog, were in the dinghy nearby. They climbed up a ladder onto the AtlantiCat to the passengers' claps and cheers. They were not injured. Ferry saved family from blazing boat
The crew of the "Key West Express" saved a family swimming for their lives after their leisure boat caught fire in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico just after 10 a.m. on Nov 20, 2017. Ther ferry was halfway through the trip, when the captain went on the intercom and said they had to stop because of a distressed boat nearby. The family jumped off their boat and into the rough waves as the ferry approached. Flames were shooting out of the boat, and it looked like an engine fire. The family swam towards them while holding on to a crab trap buoys. The crew of the "Key West Express" pulled them on board.
