Ferry suffered cable damage
On the afternoon of Dec 12, the Port Authority of Spetses was informed that the 'Kaptan Stavros', ahead of its departure from the port of Spetses on its its scheduled route to the Argolida Coast, suffered a fault of the starboard side cable of its ramp. The Port Authority of Spetses, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the ship from sailing. After the presentation of a class certificate from the classification society that monitors it, the departure was permitted.
Fire in the wheelhouse
Early on Aug 13, 2024, the Port Authority of Spetses was informed about a fire in the area of the wheelhouse of the 'Kaptan Stavros', which was docked at the old port of Spetses. The ship operates on the route Spetses - Costa Argolida. The local emergency plan was immediately activated, while the available materials and means of decontamination were immediately made available in accordance with the local pollution incident response plan. A patrol boat and a patrol vehicle went to the area, and the Fire Service provided assistance. The fire was brought under control by the ship's crew and with the assistance of the Fire Service. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed. The Port Authority of Spetses, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the ship from sailing.
Moored ferry damaged in allision
The Port Authority of Salamina was informed in the morning of March 28, 2023, that the ferry 'Dimitrios P', on a scheduled route from Perama Megaridos to the port of Faneromeni Salamina with 28 passengers and 16 vehicles on board, experienced a failure of the steering system and allided with the moored 'Kaptan Stavros', causing damage to both ships. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, arrested the Master of the ferry, while the sailing of both ships was prohibited, until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the classifiers who monitor the vessels. No injuries were reported from the incident, and no marine pollution was observed.
