Fire off Hanstholm
In the night of June 20, 2014, the skipper of the "flipper - HM 335" had call for help from the lifeboat station in Hanstholm after a fire around the exhaust of the engine compartment. The crew of four was able to get the fire quickly under control and immediately turned off the ventilation so the suffocating smoke did not spread and there could get no new oxygen to the fire site at the insulation around the exhaust. There was also the danger that the engine would conk out, which could have fatal consequences for the vessel which could have got in danger of running aground. Therefore, the lifeboat was called and the trawler to the dock. The Port Control in Hanstholm dispatched a fire engine at 1.30 p.m. to be on standby in case the fire would be reignited by the fierce northwest wind. After a thorough cleaning and some repair work on the exhaust the ship could return to the fishing grounds.
