Ferries and lifeboats engaged in fire fighting off Dryna
On Nov 10, 2016, the "Harøy" assisted in the rescue operation for the burning fishing vessel "M-27-H" homeported in Brattvåg in the Harøy fjord off Dryna. Also the ferry "Solskel" as well as the lifeboats "DNV II", "Det Norske Veritas" and the sea rescue corps SKR Maersk were on site. After the crew of two remarked smoke development aboard, they radioed a mayday call via Florø radio at 11:37 a.m. The JRCC contacted ships in the area, especially the two ferries that were nearby. Both the "Harøy" and the "Solskel" were quickly on site, in addition to some other small craft. The fishermen were assisted by the crews from the ferries which managed to put out the fire at noon. After the "Harøy" launched an MOB-boat for this purpose, the second ferry was sent back on track. At 1 p.m. also the "Det Norske Veritas" joined the fire fighting- and rescue work. Both an air ambulance and an ambulance were mobilized, but later stood down. Ferry departures on the route Brattvåg-Dryna-Harøy were delayed due to the rescue operation.
