Fishing vessel sank after fire, crew safe
On April 22, 2019, around 10:30 p.m. the CROSS Gris-Nez was alerted after a fire broke out aboard the "Saint Jean Pierre - BL.589306", 10 gt, in the Traffic Separation Zone of Pas de Calais 26 miles off Boulogne-sur-Mer. The fire was spotted by another fishing vessel, the "Loïc II", after the crew of the distressed ship had fired two red rockets. The three crew members were recovered safe and sound by the "Loïc II". The CROSS Gris-Nez deployed the tug "Abeille Languedoc" to try to extinguish the fire on the ship while a Falcon 50 of the National Navy monitored the area. Despite all the efforts made, the ship sank in the English zone around 1 a.m. on April 23.
