Medevac off Penmarc'h
On Dec 12, 2015 at 8 a.m. a fisherman aboard the "Okata" had to be medevaced 72 km south of Penmarc'h by a Cayman helicopter of the naval air base Lanvéoc-Poulmic. The Portuguese sailor was reported to have fallen ill at 5:04 a.m. After a telephone conference, the decision was taken to evacuate the patient by helicopter to the hospital La Cavale Blanche in Brest. It took off at 6:56 a.m. and reached the trawler at 7:25. The patient was winched aboard the helicopter at 8:05 a.m. and flown to Brest.
Me3devac off Penmar'ch
On Feb 15, 2104, at 10:30 p.m. the CROSS Etel was alerted by the "Okata" that crew member likely suffered a heart attack. The gillnetter was located 50 nautical miles south of Penmar'ch. Following a conference call between the ship, CROSS Etel and the center of maritime medical consultation in Toulouse (CSCM), a medical evacuation was decided. The CROSS Etel dispatched a Camyman NH 90 helicopter of the Navy which took off at 11:35 p.m. On Feb 16 at 0:32 a.m., the fisherman, aged 59, was hoisted aboard the NH90 and transported to the hospital Cavale Blanche in Brest where he was delivered at 1 a.m.
Medevac off La Rochelle
Following an acute abdominal pain, a crew member of the "Okata" was medevaced to the hospital in La Rochelle on Feb 14. At 5 p.m. the CROSS Etel was alerted about the sick man. Following a conference between the center of medical consultation maritime Toulouse, CROSS Etel and the fishing vessel, a medevac was decided. The boat was located 80 nautical miles west of La Rochelle. CROSS Etel dispatched a Dauphin helicopter Dauphin with a Navy medical officer on board. Around 7 p.m. the Spanish sailor, aged 45, was hoisted aboard the helicopter.
