Medevac off Lanvéoc-Poulmic
On Jan 30, 2017, at 2.47 p.m. the CROS was alerted that a 44-year-old sailor on the "Bara Bihan" was experiencing severe chest pain. The "Bara Bihan" was 127 nautical west of Lanvéoc-Poulmic. The decision was taken to evacuate the sailor by helicopter to the hospital center of Brest. A Cayman helicopter at the Lanvéoc-Poulmic naval base with a medical team on board took off at 3.38 p.m. and joined the ship at 4.25 p.m. The sailor was taken care of by the medical team on board of the trawler and then hoisted aboard the Cayman. At 4:40 p.m., the helicopter left the ship and headed for the La Cavale Blanche hospital. Due to poor weather, the helicopter was diverted to Guipavas airport where it landed at 5.27p.m. The sailor was then taken care of by a team of the Regional Emergency Medical Service. He was taken by road to the hospital La Cavale Blanche.
