The 'CL Sha He', which had arrived in Liverpool from Ghent with 21 crew members on board, suffered a fire in cargo hold no.4 at the Canada Dock on April 14, 2022, at 06.45 a.m. Five fire engines were on scene. Also the tug 'Svitzer Stanlow' was called to assist for boundary cooling. The intentions were to seal thecargo hold and flood it with CO2. The vessel was carrying an unknown quantity of scrap metal on board. At noon the fire was under control. The boundary cooling has been completed on April 15. Hourly monitoring of the temperature of the tank tops and holds and hatch tops showed 84 degrees approximately and was continued until it gets to ambient temperature. After 24 hours the holds will be opened, and the CO2 will be vented. A 200-metre down-wind exclusion zone will be imposed for half an hour, when holds were opened. Until the fire is completely extinguished, no cargo will be loaded, as per order of the port. Additionally, no cargo was to be loaded until CO2 stock is replenished. The fire brigade remained on scene with one engine and crew.
