Passenger ship gutted by fire
The "Burg Eberbach" (EU-No.: 04605820) was gutted by a fire at the yard Tinnemans Shipbuilding in Maasbracht on Dec 16, 2016, where the passenger ship was docked for overhauls after having been sold to Belgian interests in November. The fire brigade was alterted at 12.20 p.m. when large smoke plumes were drifting over the area. The inhabitants of Wessem were asked to keep their windows and doors closed. The ship was completely in flames at that time. Four fire engines tackled the fire with foam. Timewise gas cylinders were threatened to explode. The fire was under control at 1.30 p.m. but the ship was destroyed.
