Oil spill in Bandirma
The "BBC Bangkok" which had leaked fuel oil in the sea in Bandirma was fined with £ 460.000 and then released by the Bandırma Port Authority. There was also a criminal complaint and the prosecutor's office was investigating. The ship sailed on June 19, 2019, at 9 a.m., bound to Tuzla with an ETA as of 10 p.m. the same day.
Cargo fire in the port of Rostock
On Sep 8, 2014, at 12.30 a.m. a fire broke out in the cargo hold of the "BBC Bangkok" during loading operations at berth 43 in the port of Rostock. The ship had loaded parts for offshore windfarms. The fire brigade was on ssene with 37 men from Rostock, Warnemünde and Gehlsdorf. They had to fight with intense heat and dense smoke under deck and had difficulties to trace the origin of the fire which was found to have been the nacelle of a wind plant. The smoke was blown onto the quay. The fire was caused by welding works while the cargo was secured. After four hours it was reported under control.
