Disabled cruise ship towed to Chania
The "Aegean Odyssey" with 339 passengers on board suffered an engine failure while approaching Chania upon Crete island in the afternoon of April 21, 2019. The ship was coming from Valletta. The two tugs "Titan" and "Gy I" were deployed to assist, ane the ship was safely towed to Chania. It was detained by the port authority until completing repairs and a class survey. It was expected to sail again in the evening.
Damage delayed stopover in Saint Nazaire
The "Aegean Odyssey", which was due to arrive in Montoir-de-Bretagne for a stopover on June 29, will dock only on June 30 because of the fire damage suffered and was set to leave on July 1. On board were 720 English passengers and 190 crew members.
Ship docked in Cherbourg after fire
Coming from Dover, where she had sailed on June 25, 2016, the "Aegean Odyssey" diverted to Cherbourg on June 26 after suffering a fire. The ship was expected to stay several days at the dock for repairs. It had on board 298 passengers on board and 171 crew members at the time of the accident.
