Tug diverted to Bermuda following accident on board
The "Uinon Manta" whilst towing the world’s largest barge crane diverted to Bermuda this weekend to drop off an injured crew member. Staff at the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre were contacted on Mar 28, 2013, regarding an injury on-board the tug which was towing the crane barge "SSCV Thialf" from Portugal to Port Fouchon in Louisiana when an incident on board reportedly left a crewman with a severed finger. The tug diverted towards the Island, and met the pilot boat "St David" on Mar 29 shortly after 8 p.m. to transfer the crewman, who was brought to the Island for treatment. The tug has since continued on its voyage with the 136,709 tonne crane barge.
