Petrobras has exercised an option to extend the fixed term of the lease contract for the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel the BW Pioneer from Q1 2017 to Q1 2020. The FPSO BW Pioneer started work on the Cascade Chinook oil and gas field for Petrobras in the US Gulf of Mexico in February 2012 under a fixed five-year contract up to 2017 with an optional period of up to three years. In addition, BW Offshore will in Q2 2016 replace parts of the subsea mooring system for the FPSO BW Pioneer. The cost for the replacement will be partly covered by insurance. During the replacement, the FPSO BW Pioneer will be disconnected. The replacement campaign is expected to result in approximately two months of downtime. Source : OEdigital
Production with FPSO "BW Pioneer" starts at ultra-deep Mexican Gulf oil field
2012-09-13 — Petrobras USA says production has begun last week at its Chinook oil field in the ultra-deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico using a specialized ship that processes and stores oil and natural gas in place of a production platform. The field is being worked by BW Pioneer, a type of ship known in the oil industry as a floating, production, storage and offloading vessel, or FPSO.
Production starts from first FPSO in U.S. Gulf
Oil and gas production from the first FPSO in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico started at the deepwater Cascade field, according to Brazilian oil major Petrobras. Petrobras is the first company to develop an oilfield in the Gulf of Mexico using these technologies, which are systematically and successfully applied in Brazil. The Cascade 4 well is connected to the FPSO BW Pioneer (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessel), located approximately 250 kilometers off the coast of Louisiana in water depths of 2,500 meters in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
