Tug on fire

On July 20, 2019, an engine fire broke out aboard the "Svitzer Sussex" enroute to Liverpool in position 054 42 10 N, 005 36 57 W. The fire wasn extinguished by the crew, and the tug was taken in tow by the RNLI boat from Donaghadee. The towage was taken over by the tug "Eileen Mcloughin" which pulled the casualty to Belfast, where the fire service and the Coastguard were ready to provide further assistance.

The British destroyer HMS Daring was damaged in a collision with the "Svitzer Suxxex" on Sep 7, 2010, when returning from routine operations to Marchwood, on Southampton Water. The tug lost power to its engines as it was about to start towing the 7,500 tonne Portsmouth-based ship into the port. HMS "Daring" is a Type 45 Class air defence destroyer, and was only commissioned into the Navy last year.
