The cargo vessel ECLIPS carrying 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid en route for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip left a Turkish port yesterday. The "Eclips" which was traveling from New York to Aliagadiverted to Bermuda to disembark an ill crew member in the early morning of May 1, 2017. At 5:24 p.m. on Apr 30 the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre was contacted by a local shipping agent reporting that the vessel was inbound to Bermuda to disembark an ill crew member. On May 1 at 1:24 a.m., the 38-year-old Turkish national was successfully landed ashore by the pilot boat "St. David" and taken by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The "Eclips" continued on to its original next port of call, ETA May 15.
