Fire tackled by crew
In the afternoon of Oct 17, 2021, a fire broke out on the mani deck of the 'Doreen' which was moored at Sundai Pakning anchorage on the Pakning river, Riau, The fire was caused by a shortcut in the hatch cover hydraulic mechanism. It could be put out by the crew with fire extinguishers within a short time. No serious damage was reported. The ship has been anchored since Oct 6.
Medevac off Khan Hoa
On Jan 3, 2015, Vietnamese rescuers medevaced Edward Cupisz, 63, a Polish crew member of the Atacama, and took him to fthe General Hospital in Khanh Hoa Province. The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center received an emergency aid proposal from the "Atacama" which was 130 nautical miles to the northeast of Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa). Cupisz was reported to suffer from serious wounds, resulting in hemiplegia, while working on the ship during the voyage from China to Singapore. A vessel at the port of Nha Trang was ordered to take off the victim.
