The planned sailing of the HMS 'Dauntless' from Portsmouth has been cancelled due to engineering issues on July 24, 2024. The ship was due to leave the city and travel past The Round Tower in Old Portsmouth at 3 p.m.,

In recent weeks, the 'Dauntless' has been sailing in the Caribbean Sea for joint operations between the Royal Navy and the US Coast Guard and seized 1,230 kilos of cocaine with a street value of around 175 million Euros on Sep 9, 2023. With the support of the U.S. Coast Guard, the Dauntless crew stopped and searched a boat suspected of drug trafficking. In a second operation, the Royal Navy provided support in tracking down a suspicious plane coming from Venezuela. 550 kilos of cocaine were seized. The ship is expected to sail in the region's waters for a few more months. It berthed in Road Town in the Virgin Islands on Sep 11. HMS Dauntless rescues yachtsman off Plymouth

Royal Navy destroyer HMS Dauntless helped to rescue a man who collapsed on his boat off Plymouth. A medical team from Dauntless went on board the 33ft (10m) vessel at about 02:30 BST on Saturday. The victim, who had suffered a seizure on a yacht sailing from Falmouth to Chichester, was airlifted to hospital. His condition is unknown. HMS Dauntless, one of the UK's largest air defence destroyers, is en route to the Falkland Islands.
