Search operation for missing crew member
On Dec 21, 2014 at 5:53 a.m. the CROSS Etel was alerted by the skipper of the "Bara Ar Vor" after a crew member, aged 40 and equipped with integrated buoyancy clothing, was missing. The ship was fishing 120 nautical miles off the Pointe de Penmarc'h. The CROSS Etel coordinated search operations and routed several commercial vessels like the "Am Jigon" and the "Sea Frontier" and the fishing vessel "Idatsa" to the area and dispatched a Cayman helicopter of the Naval Air Station Lanvéoc Poulmic which took off at 7:10 a.m., reaching the scene at 7:50 a.m. At 9 a.m. a Falcon 50 of the Naval Air Station Lann Bihoue relieving the helicopter. At 2 p.m. another Falcon 50 relieved the first aircraft. The search which was hitherto unsuccessful, should continue until nightfall.
