Six sailors, including two Indians, kidnapped from an oil service ship off the coast of Nigeria have been released unharmed by armed pirates, police said on Feb. 26, 2013. The sailors were kidnapped 40 nautical miles off oil-rich southern Nigeria on February 17. No ransom was paid before the security agencies regained freedom of the sailors, police commissioner for the state of Bayelsa Kingsley Omire on Tuesday said without giving details. Three Ukrainians said to be free

Three captured Ukrainians have been freed by Feb 21. There was no word about the other sailors that were onboard the "Armada Tuah 101" which was taken over by the Nigerian pirates. On board were one Russian citizen, three Ukrainians and two citizens of India when pirates attacked the tug 70 kilometres off the coast of Bayelsa. The attack was beaten off, but the pirates managed to escape, kidnapping the sailors. Their whereabouts are unknown.

11 foreign sailors kidnapped in 10 days period, Nigeria

It became known during last 24 hours, that among 6 sailors kidnapped from offshore supply tug Armada Tuah 101, are 1 Russia, 3 Ukrainians and 2 Indians. In total during last 10 days Nigerian pirates kidnapped 1 Honduras nationality, 2 Indians, 1 Romanian, 3 Russians and 4 Ukrainians. During Feb 17-18 Nigerian attacked practically in one position two fishing vessels, the last one was attacked at around 08:30 LT Feb 18, VHF radio calls for help were intercepted by nearby vessels.
