Freighter detained for alleged default
The "Momentum Scan" was seized in Houston after an alleged default. A Park Avenau investment company alleged the operator Forest Wave stiffed it on ship mortgage payments and paying back cash advanced to pay its crew. The ship was moored in the Buffalo Bayou in the turning basin off Houston in pos. 29° 45.10' N 095° 17.33' W since April 12. It had sailed from Paramaribo on April 4.

The "Momentum Scan" on Jan 16, 2011, saved 241 people from the Italy-bound Turkish m/v "Hasan Reis", which, carrying at least 263 migrants, has reportedly sunk near Corfu. The ship rescued the passengers about seven hours after a call that alerted the Coast Guard. The cargo ship's captain reported that he took 241 people on board. SAR helicopters are looking for 22 people who are missing.
