Ferry suffered mechanical problems
The deal between Unity Line and A-Ships is at risk of falling apart. During the voyage to Perama, the 'Golden Carrier' suffered some mechanical problems, which made both the crew and the shipping company doubt the condition of the ship and whether it is profitable to repair and renovate her at all. The ferry has arrived in Perama on April 1, and rumors wsre starting to spread that either Unity Line will take her back to the Baltic Sea and return the money to the Greeks, or the ship will be sold for scrapping if the damage proves to be too serious for the Polish shipping company.
Ferry handed over to A Ship Management SA
On Jan 31, 2025, the 'Wolin' made its final voyage on the Świnoujście–Trelleborg route, marking the end of its distinguished 18-year tenure, and the vessel had been sold by the Polska Żegluga Morska, to the A Ship Management SA, for which it will continue to serve under the name 'Golden Carrier'. The name change was on March 18, 2025. The once 'Wolin' is the second ferry in the shipowner’s fleet, joining the 'Galaxy' (ex-'Silesia'), which operated in the Polska Żegluga Bałtycka fleet from 1979 to 2005. The former 'Wolin' departed Świnoujście for her new career on March 20, en route to Perama for a refit. The ship is due to be operated in the Mediterranean as from June.
