Thu Nov 28 12:06:22 CET 2019 Timsen

On Nov 23, 2019, at 5 a.m. the master of the 'Vidi' (EU-No.: 02331965) oversaw a moored barge at the edge of the Rhein-Herne-Canal and struck it with the starboard side bow. The ship had just passed the lock in Oberhausener and was sailing into the direction of Essen when the accident happened. The ship was empty and degased. The bow was breached above the waterline on a length of 2,5 meters. The barge which was loaded with coal and other moored ships were damaged too in a five-didgit-Euro amount. The 'Vidi' was detained for repairs and investigations. German report with photo: https://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/50510/4449955

Vidi damaged by drifting barges

Fri Dec 09 11:27:11 CET 2016 Timsen

On Dec 8, 2016, a barge train broke lose from its mooring on the Rhine at Rheinbrohl. The barges were loaded with 2300 tons sun flower kernels and had berthed for the night. The tank barge was damaged so significantly at the bow which was dented and breached above the waterline, that it was only allowed to proceed to the river port Andernach to be unloaded there before proceeding to a repair yards. The cargo tanks, however, remained undamaged. The damage was estimated to be some hundred thousand Euros. The "Vidi" left the port of Andernach again and headed to Ghent via Terneuzen, arriving at the tank company Curo Silo on Dec 19 at noon.
