Fire aboard rig in the Northsea
On Aug 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. a fire broke out aboard the "Tartan Alpha" 177 miles north-east of Aberdeen. All 122 workers aboard the drilling and production platform were mustered at their stations after the fire was discovered in one of the emergency generator enclosures. It was quickly put out by staff. There were 122 people on the Talisman Sinopec Energy platform at the time, although production was shut down for maintenance. Nobody was injured during the incident. The Coastguard Aberdeen was made aware of the incident and was monitoring the situation. Talisman, however, didn’t ask for any assistance.
