Sailing cancelled due to technical issue
Wightlink on Dec 18, 2018, have announced the 09.30 a.m. service from Fishbourne to Portsmouth by the "St. Cecilia" has been cancelled. The reason was due to a technical issue on board the ferry which was sidelined at the Gunwharf in Portsmouth. The company have advised passengers to still check in on time.
Body of missing passenger recovered
The body of a passenger of the "St. Cecilia" has been recovered by military police five days after he was apparently seen jumping overboard near Portsmouth Harbour. Hampshire and Ministry of Defence police officers were called on Sep 3 at 7.15 a.m. following the discovery of the body in the water close to Gosport. It was recovered by MoD cops, and Hampshire Constabulary said the man has since been identified as a 58-year-old from Southsea. His death was not being treated as suspicious. D
Search for passenger who jumped over board suspended
A man has jumped overboard the "St. Cecilia" on Aug 29, 2018, at 10.30 a.m. in the Solent, sparking rescue teams to try and find him.More than ten agencies were involved in the search for the man. The ferry was enroute from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and was just outside Portsmouth Harbour at the time of the incident. The crew of the "St. Cecilia" deployed the ship’s rescue boat and the Coastguard was now the lead authority on this matter, with a number of vessels assisting in the search. The "St. Cecilia" was still in the area of the incident while authorities were trying to recover the person, with customers on board. The SAR operation was carried out by means including the coastguard towers, a navy vessel, the Portsmouth inshore lifeboat and Bembridge lifeboat crews.
