Ship on fire off Haikou

The 'Sheng Hong 6' suffered a fire in its superstructure on Nov 20, 2019, at 11 a.m. The ship was anchored in the Qiongzhou Strait off Haikou. The SAR ship 'Nan Hai Jiu 113' (IMO: 9548055) was sent to assist. Upon its arrival five of the 13 crew members had already abandoned the ship and had been picked up by local fishermen. Thick smoke was pluming from the accomodation area. Later the remaining eight crew members also left the ship and were taken on board the SAR ship. After several hours of fire fighting, the blaze was finally extinguished.

12 missing after collision

The "Shun Jin Long", being loaded with 5.038 tons of steel, and the "Jin Ze Lun" (MMSI: 413357240), carrying 5.000 tons of sand, were in collision on Nov 27, 2017, at 3 a.m. in the Pearl River estuary in the Guangdong Province. The "Jin Ze Lun" sank, two of the crew were rescued, 12 went missing, an SAR operation was launched involving 30 rescue ships, one helicopter and other craft. The "Shun Jin Long" also suffered serious damage with massive water ingress. The ship managed was grounded in shallow waters to avoid sinking. The 11 crew members were safe.
