Repairs still going on

Permanent repairs of the fire damages aboard the "LR2 Poseideon" were still being carried out in the shipyard in Tuzla, as per class surveyor's recommendation. The safety approval tests along with gas leak and alarm sensor level will also be carried out upon completion of repair works. The vessel sailed from tuzla on April 3 at 5.30 p.m. bound to Istanbul.

Explosion and fire on tanker in Tuzla

In the boiler room of the "LR2 Poseidon" a fire broke out on Jan 28, 2019, in a repair yard in Tuzla, where the tanker was undergoing maintenance repairs. The fire was preceded by an explosion which cost two shipyard workers' lives, while ten others were injured. The fire was extinguished within a short time by the fire brigade which deployed three fire trucks and 110 firefighters to the scene. The Anatolian Chief Prosecutor's Office started an investigation of the incident.
