Tanker crew calls for help
The crew of the 'Inda' has called for help, claiming they were being held on board of tanker for months, without payment and supplies running out fast. The tanker has been anchored in Gujarat State waters since July 14, 2022. The crew was promised by Transmorflot managers, that the tanker is to be dismantled at Alang, with all crew members to be repatriated soon which did not happen yet. Relatives of several crew members wrote and sent letter to Russian Embassy in India, to Russian Ministry of Transportation, to Astrakhan Prosecutor General and to Russian media. Before the arrival off Gujarat, the tanker had been cruising west of the Gulf of Khambhat since July 4.
Russian tanker's odyssey
The 'Linda' en route from the Persian Gulf to Sungai Linggi, Dickson, with an ETA as of March 9, 2022, loaded with Iranian crude taken on board in a ship-to-ship-transfer end of January, has its AIS log missing up to Dec 2021. After loading the cargo, the ship started sailing on Jan 30 with first, Tanjung Pelepas as port of destination and an ETA as of Feb 18. The ship was sailing at reduced speed of 3-5 knots and anchored off Colombo for four days. The üort of destination was changed. As of March 1, the tanker was sailing in the southern Bay of Bengal towards the Malacca Strait still at reduced speed. The Malaysian authorities were musing over the final decision, whether to allow the entry to a port or ban it.
