Mechanical failure off Keas
In the evening of April 26, 2023, the Port Authorities of Lavrio, Rafina and Karystos were informed about a mechanical failure due to a malfunction in the controls of the bridge of the 'Aqua Blue' nine nautical miles north of Keas, on a scheduled route from the port of Lavrio to the ports of Agios Efstratiou, Limnos, Kavala, with 87 passengers and 50 crew members on board. The ship returned under its own power to the port of Lavrio, where its passengers disembarked safely. The Port Authority of Lavrio initially prohibited the sailing of the ferry. After presenting a certificate of seaworthiness and repair of damage, the sailing ban was lifted and then the ship continued on its route.
Engine trouble off Kavala
The Port Authority of Myrina was informed in the morning hours of Oct 11, 2022, by the Master of the 'Aqua Blue,, about a main engine failure while serving the scheduled route from the port of Lavrio to the ports of Agios Efstratiou, Myrina and Kavala with 152 passengers and 49 crew members on board, seven nautical miles northwest of Lemnos. After the propulsion was restored, the ferry berthed in the port of Kavala at 12.20 p.m. The Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. The ship left the port again at 3.35 p.m. en route to Lavrio, where it arrived on Oct 12 at 6.50 a.m.
Crew member injured in work accident
The Central Port Authority of Kavala was informed on Jan 23, 2022, at noon about the injury of a 60-year-old crew member of the 'Aqua Blue' inside the ship. The victim was taken to the General Hospital of Kavala, where he was diagnosed with a fracture. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Port Authority.
