Medevac off Wremen
A sick crew member of the "Großherzogin Elisabeth" needed to be medevaced on April 20 2023, in the Weser estuary off Wremen. The patient was taken off by the lifeboat 'Hermann Rudolf Meyer' of the DGzRS station Bremerhaven after the MRCC Bremen was alerted at around 8:20 a.m. The 43-year-old crew member complained of severe pain and needed urgent medical help. The tall ship turned around, and the lifeboat went alongside at around 9 a.m. After a brief initial medical treatmen the man was transported to Bremerhaven, where he was handed over to the shore based rescue service for further treatment.
Tallship allided with dolphin
The "Großherzogin Elisabeth" allided with a dolphin on May 31, 2015, when leaving the port of Büsum bound for Elsfleth in adverse weather conditions. The bowsprit of the ship was split and the foreship damaged. The ship was sent to the Elsfleth Yard for repairs which were estimated to take two weeks. All tours during this time had to be cancelled. Medevac off Amrum
On Juen 7, 2014, at 5 p.m. Bremen Rescue was notified by the Griroßherzogin Elisabeth" about a passenger who was suffering from strong seizures and needed immediate medical attention. Immediately the lifeboat "Vormann Leiss" of the DGzRS-station Amrum was dispatched to the tall ship which was about ten nautical miles west of the island. The lifeboat had on board a paramedic, went alognside in calm seas and took off the Patient within five minutes. During the return trip to Amrum the paramedic treated the patient before he was taken to shore by helicopter and was flown to a hospital.
