Hurricane Milton affects cruise schedules

Thu Oct 10 10:30:18 CEST 2024 Timsen

The 'Grandeur of the Seas' went from a cruise to Mexico to a cruise that just visited the Bahamas due ot hurricane Milton. Instead of visiting Costa Maya and Cozumel, the ship would be visiting Nassau as the only port destination.

Revised itinerary due to engine problems

Mon Jan 30 13:10:04 CET 2023 Timsen

Royal Caribbean informed passengers of ongoing engine issues with the 'Grandeur of the Seas', which is affecting the maximum cruising speed. Guests booked on a February 2023 sailing were recently informed by Royal Caribbean that the ship’s itinerary would be modified due to a technical issue with one of the ship’s engines. In a letter sent to guests, the cruise line informed guests of revised departure timings, a canceled port call, and changed timings in port. The modified itinerary for the Feb 10 sailing included an earlier departure from Miami, with the ship now departing at 3:30 p.m. instead of 5:00 PM. Additionally, the planned stop in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has been canceled, and the stay in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, will be shorter.

89 people suffering from norovirus

Tue Mar 17 12:00:22 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Grandeur of the Seas' which was currently on its final cruise before the suspending operations has been hit with a gastrointestinal outbreak. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 83 passengers have come down with the bug which causes vomiting and diarrhea. Six crew members have also picked up the sickness which has been confirmed by the CDC as Norovirus. There were no cases of COVID-19 onboard. There was a total of 1,764 passengers and 798 crew members onboard the current sailing. As a result, the cruise ship has implemented its procedures which included collecting samples for officials, making announcements to keep everyone informed of the outbreak, extra sanitation and more. Guests will also have a staged disembarkation process to limit the spread when the Royal Caribbean cruise ship arrives back to Baltimore on March 19. The following sailing which was scheduled to depart the port on March 19 has already been cancelled.
