Bulk carrier YANGTZE HARMONY - water ingress in engine room - crew rescued
Bulk carrier YANGTZE HARMONY issued distress signal on Aug 20 in South China sea some 200 nm off Vietnam coast, with 20 Chinese crew on board, reporting water ingress in engine room area. By 0800 UTC Aug 20 engine room was flooded, all power and mechanisms off, crew requesting rescue. MRCC Vietnam ordered nearest vessel, container ship ALS APOLLO (IMO 9401063), to pick up the crew. by 1310 UTC same day, all bulk carrier’s crew were on board of ALS APOLLO. They’ll be disembarked at ALS APOLLO’s next port of call, Fuzhou. YANGTZE HARMONY with 47376 tons of steel on board was en route from Shanghai to Singapore. Cause of water ingress and ship’s present condition, as of 1400 UTC Aug 21, unknown. As of late Aug 20 she was reported abandoned and drifting. It arrived at Singapore on Sep 11 and started repairs on Oct 18 at Sembawang Shipyard. She sailed again on Jan 21, 2018.

Vessel was en route from Shanghai to Singapore, no other information available.
Engine room fire in Gwangyang
On July 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "GMT Phoenix" which was docked at the Gwangyang Container Terminal. All 20 crew members have been evacuated, port fire fighters were engaged to tackle the fire.
