Crew man found dead in his bunk
A crew member of the "Cornelis Volijk" was found dead in his bed by colleagues in the morning of Nov 23, 2014, while thre stern trawler was berthed at the Logger Quay in IJmuiden. Firefighter were called and were quickly on the spot beside the ambulance and the police. It soon became apparent that the crew a few hours earlier was deceased. The police launched an investigation. EU lets one Dutch ship net A QUARTER of England’s fishing quota
A single Dutch ship is scooping up a quarter of England’s fishing quota every year and landing it in Holland, it has emerged. Government statistics reveal the Cornelis Vrolijk, a giant 370ft trawler, holds 23 per cent of the limited fishing permits allocated to England by the EU. Campaigners last night called for loopholes to be closed so that domestic boats have more access to Britain’s tightly controlled fishing stocks.
