Barge disabled by engine room fire
On Mar 9, 2015, around 1 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Chamari", 826 ts (EU-No.: 02203735), on the Waal near Oosterhout off Lent. The fire caused a lot of smoke, but a fire engine jointly with the fire boat "Gelderland" which was dispatched from Nijmegen and the "RWS 43" of Rijkswaterstaat were able to put the fire out within short time. The ship was carrying a cargo of sand and was moored in the Oosterhoutse Waarden as the fire disabled its engine. The crew of two was checked by medicals of Rijkswaterstaat but found in good health.
