Container shop grounded off Buka

On Sep 3, 2019, the "Julian", coming from Lae in Papue New Guinea, ran aground in the Buka passage on its way into the port of Buka. The ship managed to refloat without iassistance and berthed at the Buka wharf at 9.45 a.m. The National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) launched an investigation, and the ship was to be surveyed to ensure it was seaworthy to continue its voyage.

Turbine exploded off Iceland

The "Blikur" suffered an explosion of a turbine in the engine room at Sunda­höfn while entering the port of Reykjavik in the afternoon of June 25, 2018. After the explosion occurred, a lot of smoke developed, but no open fire. The ship initially was anchored, and later berthed in port, being assisted to the quay by the tug "Magni".Some crew members were examined by medics at tje National Hospital for a possible smoke inhalation. The Eimskip Information Officer Ólafur William Hand was sent to Reykjavik on June 26 for further investigations. The ship had sailed from Immingham on June 22.
