Charter of BALTICA extended

Godby Shipping has announced that the charter contract of the 1990-built, 2,200-lanemetre BALTICA to TransProCon has been extended until June 2018 with an option to extend with a further six months.

On Mar 22, 2011, at 2.35 p.m. the Panama-flagged cargo m/v "Rubicone" (IMO: 8701947), allided with two other vessels, the "Baltica" at berth 2 and the Swedish ferry "Vkingland" (IMO: 7718541), in the Vorwerk port of Luebeck during towage by the tug "Axel". The ship was pulled astern into the port to load grain at the Rautenberg Silo when a wind gust caught the ship and pushed it against the two other vessels which were berthed there. The crew of 19 was not injured. The "Rubicone" which was due to depart again on Mar 24 will now have to be surveyed before being allowed to sail again.
