Grounding off Rostock

Thu Jan 17 11:24:28 CET 2019 Timsen

In the morning of Jan 17, 2019, the "Bore Bank", upon its scheduled arrival from Kotka at 4.30 a.m, ran aground off the eastern bereakwater of Rostock-Warnemünde. The ship was resting perpendicular to the fairwaay and barred the entry to the port completely so that other ferries had to wait off the port. The accident was thought to have been caused by a rudder failure. Three tugs, the "Fairplay VI“, "Bugsier 16“ and "Fairplay XII“ were called to assist, two connected to the stern, the third to the bow. Within one hour they managed to reflaot the ship which was docked at berth 60 in the Rostock Seaport around 8 a.m. The marine police launched an investigations. A diver surveyed the hull during the regular cargo operations at the quay. The ferry left the port again on Jan 18 at 2 a.m., bound to Lübeck. She berthed in the Vorwerk Port at 6.50 a.m. Geman reports with photos and video: http://www.ostsee-zeitung.de/Mecklenburg/Rostock/Frachter-laeuft-vor-Rostock-auf-Grund https://www.svz.de/lokales/rostock/Schiffsunglueck-Frachter-laeuft-vor-Warnemuende-auf-Grund-id22288602.html https://www.svz.de/lokales/rostock/Schiffsunglueck-in-Warnemuende-Frachter-Bore-Bank-laeuft-auf-Grund-id22292407.html https://www.uckermarkkurier.de/mecklenburg-vorpommern/frachter-vor-warnemuende-auf-grund-gelaufen-1734297401.html https://www.facebook.com/nsn.rostock/videos/360281041452443/
